Berger Picard

Berger Picard, or Berger p Picard, came from within the Picardie region of France and has been around not less than 1,000 years. This herding breed nearly disappeared following the devastation of World Wars I and II but is creating a comeback in France, Germany, and, to some lesser extent, The United States.

The Berger Picard stands 21.5 to 25.5 inches tall and weighs in at between 50 and 75 pounds. This dog includes a broad mind, lengthy muzzle, and enormous upright ears. Her eyes are dark, and she or he includes a terrierlike face having a mustache, beard, and eye-eyebrows. The tail is lengthy. She's a double coat having a dense undercoat. The outer coat is coarse and wiry and it is a couple of.5 inches lengthy. The coat is grey, silver, or grey with red touches.

The coat is simple to look after and requires brushing only once per week. The breed sheds gently and it has no doggy odor. The Berger Picard is really a perimeter herding dog, one that runs the perimeter from the area where the sheep are grazing, just like a canine fence. Therefore, this can be a very active dog who likes to run. She'll need energetic exercise every single day. Running alongside a motorcycle is going to be great, or take her jogging

along with you. She'll need early and continuing socialization. Like the majority of herding dogs, she will be reserved with other people. She's very receptive to training, which needs to be firm yet fun. She'll thrive in ongoing training, especially games or activities that challenge her. Train her in agility, flyball, or flying disc.

The Berger Picard is very protective of her family and prop-erty and it is very affectionate and dependable. She?s great with children and it is fine with more compact pets if elevated together. She could be a barker, which may cause neighborhood problems. Like a perimeter herding dog, she is yet another fence runner outside, woofing at people or dogs going past. This could cause fence-fighting issues. The breed has couple of health problems, although these dogs might have eye problems.
